Open House Housing Needs Analysis
The City of Aumsville is in the process of conducting a Housing Needs Analysis. Housing Needs Analyses (or “HNAs”) are required to be completed by all cities within Oregon to analyze their residential land supply and needs based on a variety of factors including demographics, development trends, and identified housing goals. The Housing Needs Analysis is led by a project advisory committee (“PAC”) including staff from the City and other relevant agencies, elected and appointed officials, and members of the public who volunteered to serve on the committee.
As part of the Housing Needs Analysis, the City of Aumsville would like to invite you to a Public Open House on Tuesday, December 7th at 5:00 PM to discuss the City’s housing needs and provide feedback on the preliminary work. Specifically, we want to have a conversation regarding your opinion on needed housing types, barriers to housing, and what Aumsville can do better to ensure adequate housing is provided to those of all backgrounds and income levels. Input from Aumsville residents and business owners is critical to the HNA process and will help the PAC evaluate suitable methods for meeting the identified needs.
To create a space conducive to conversation and to comply with COVID protocols, the open house will take the format of individual group conversations with staff and other members of the PAC. There will be two groups: one for only members of the public, and one for public and elected officials. Each discussion group will be up to 50 minutes in length and will include the following two elements:
Presentation by City Staff on the project (15 minutes)
Conversation between city staff and group members (35 minutes)

The first session, only members of the public, starts at 5:00 PM through 5:50 PM
The second session, with elected officials, starts at 6:00 PM through 6:50 PM

- Where will the Open House be held?
- The open house will be held at Aumsville Community Center. COVID-19 protocols will be in place and occupancy will be limited.
- Do I need to be knowledgeable about housing/planning to attend?
- Absolutely not! The goal of the open house is for staff to listen to the thoughts and ideas of the public.
- If I cannot attend, can I still submit my thoughts and input?
- Yes! A survey is attached to this invitation where you can help us fill in the needed information. In addition to the survey questions, we encourage you to add any additional comments you would like to submit.
- Will there be other opportunities for public input in the process?
- Yes, but we strongly encourage you to attend the open house, as this is an important time to contribute your thoughts as staff continue work on the open house.
