How to check if I have a leak

If you suspect you have a leak, first turn off all water inside and outside your house. Make sure no one flushes the toilet or uses faucets while you are checking. You can open your meter box and check to see if your meter is running. If your meter is running, you most likely have a leak. 

When you open your meter box you will see several parts. Do not touch the City Shut Off valve. Take care not to pinch or pull any wires as that can interfere with the communication of your meter for meter reading.  You can turn the customer side valve on and off as you need. 

Your meter box is most likely in front of your house. It will look like this:

Be careful when opening and closing your meter box. The radio equipment and wiring are attached to the lid. If you do not take care you can damage this equipment. 

The Low Flow Indicator will move slowly you can also track leaks by recording the gallons and checking later to see how many gallons were used in a set amount of time.  We read meters in the 1000s of gallons.  But the register reads them in a tenth of a gallon.
