The Aumsville Police Department consists of 7 sworn officers and one civilian employee.  Under the Chief’s command, the department is comprised of a Sergeant, 5 Officers and a Police Support Specialist who handles records and evidence.  We also have 2 Reserve Police Officers, and room for more, who volunteer their time.

The Aumsville Ponds are located at the intersection of Bates and Bishop Rd. The park is 77 acres of trails, ponds, and wetlands. It is managed by Marion County Parks. For more information on the Aumsville Ponds check out Marion County's website.

Twice a year, in partnership with Aumsville Elementary School, the Aumsville Police Department holds a Bike to School Event. Children learn about bike safety and get their helmets fitted properly. The kids ride bikes along with the officers on a set route through town. These events generally happen early in the fall and in the spring. As such, we need information about your event, and you'll need information about rules and regulations regarding events in the community. 

At least 60 days prior to your event, complete and turn in the Special Event Permit.

If the leak is minor, call either City Hall or Public Works during normal business hours to report the leak. Public Works cannot work on water leaks on the customer side of the water meter. You will need to call a plumber to deal with leaks on the customer side of the water meter. 

If a water main breaks and water is gushing, call City Hall, 503-749-2030, during normal business hours M-F from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Outside of normal business hours call the police non-emergency number and dispatch will let Public Works know about the leak, 503-749-2188. 

Traffic citations can be handled in a few ways:

President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which dedicated May 15th as Peace Officers Memorial Day, the week in which this day falls is Police Week. 

On May 15th we fly our flag half-staff to honor federal, state, and municipal peace officers who have been killed or disabled in the line of duty. 

• Residential Accessory Buildings/sheds under 200 sf and less than 10’ in height will require a Type A Permit.  See Development Ord. 705 for your specific zoning restrictions; i.e., property line setbacks, maximum lot coverage. Accessory Buildings/sheds larger than 200 sf or taller than 10' must go through the building permit process.

The City of Aumsville is in the process of conducting a Housing Needs Analysis. Housing Needs Analyses (or “HNAs”) are required to be completed by all cities within Oregon to analyze their residential land supply and needs based on a variety of factors including demographics, development trends, and identified housing goals. The Housing Needs Analysis is led by a project advisory committee (“PAC”) including staff from the City and other relevant agencies, elected and appointed officials, and members of the public who volunteered to serve on the committee.

We do accept Citizen Advisory members. As an advisory member, you will receive a packet prior to each meeting, be able to take place in the discussions at the meetings, but not vote. It's a good way for you to learn more about becoming a Planning Commissioner prior to submitting an application for service. 

What does the Planning Commission do? 

The Planning Commission is a committee based on local citizens and business owners. They review applications for land use changes and make decisions on those applications based on the content of our development codes. They are a quasi-judicial body. They are an advisory body on legislative actions to the City Council. 

When does the Planning Commission meet? 

They meet on an as-needed basis, generally the 1st or 3rd Thursday of the month at 6:00 PM at the Aumsville Community Center.

The Police Fishing Derby takes place in the spring. Children ages 8-13 from single parent, or at-risk, households are invited to participate. Officers will buss the children to the water, teach them how to fish, provide lunch, and bring them back. The event generally runs from 8:00 AM-3:00 PM. For more information on how your child can participate, contact the Aumsville Police Department, 503-749-2188. 

Aumsville Police Department participates in Pedestrian Safety Operation a few times a year. The hope is to raise awareness from drivers on the importance of paying attention to pedestrians. Every year we have several close calls during this operation. We want our streets to be safe for drivers, riders, and pedestrians. We partnered with Oregon Department of Transportation and Oregon Impact to make this video.  Salem Police Department and Silverton Police Department also participated in the making of the video.

These design standards have been developed by the City of Aumsville to provide a uniform set of standards for public improvements. The intent of these standards is to provide guidelines for the construction of public facilities that will provide an adequate service level for the present as well as for future development. The format has been kept brief and no attempt has been made to cover all possible situations or to provide lengthy explanations.

Annual cost of service adjustments to water and sewer rates take effect as of June 1st, 2022. Base rates for water and sewer, as well as the consumption for water usage over 7,000 gallons, will each increase 3%.  Public Safety Fee (PSF) remains unchanged at this time. These changes will be reflected on the bill you receive on July 1st
