- Mayor: 2-year term, (1 position).
- Current term expires December 31, 2026.
- Upcoming term January 1, 2027 - December 31, 2028.
- Position currently held by Angelica Ceja.
- City Councilor: 4-year term (3 positions).
- Current terms expiring December 31, 2026.
- Upcoming term January 1, 2027 - December 31, 2030.
- Currently held by Doug Cox, Gregg Hudson, and Della Seney.

Applying for Mayor and City Council Elections
Individuals interested in running for the Mayor position, or one of the three City Councilor positions may download the Elections Information Packet at the bottom of this page.
Important Dates:
- August 10, 2026 - Recommended deadline to submit signatures for verification if filing by petition.
- August 13, 2026 - Local filing deadline for Elected Incumbents (if filing by petition, signatures must already be verified).
- August 20, 2026 - Local filing deadline for new or appointed incumbent candidates (if filing by petition, signatures must already be verified).
- August 28, 2026 - Withdrawal deadline
- November 3, 2026 - Election Day
Qualifications for Office
Qualified Councilor and Mayor candidates must:
- Be a registered Oregon voter, AND
- Have resided within Aumsville city limits for a minimum of 12 months immediately preceding the election
City Councilor & Mayor Responsibilities
- Attend City Council meetings (held 2nd and 4th Mondays of each Month at 7pm)
- Ability to become knowledgeable on a wide variety of issues affecting the City.
- Willingness to consider differing opinions in arriving at a position that will be in the best interests of the city as a whole.
- Understanding of how the city operates through its City Charter and how the Council functions. The City Charter is available in the attachments at the bottom of this page.
- In addition to the above responsibilities, the Mayor:
- Acts as chairperson of meetings & presides over deliberations
- Has authority to preserve order and enforce the rules of the Council
- Appoints committee members with the consent of the council
Helpful Background/Experience
Individuals with any professional background are welcome to apply or run for office. However, the following skills and experience may make the learning and decision-making processes easier:
- Ability to make a decision and to accept the will of the majority of your fellow councilors.
- Good communication skills.
- Prior committee membership in a private or public organization.
- Ability to accept public criticism.
Application Materials
The required application materials vary depending on the filing type. See the Candidate Packet for details.
All applications will require:
- Oregon Candidate Filing Form (SEL 101)
- Certification of Qualified Elector/Residency
Other required materials may include:
- Candidate's Statement of Organization (SEL 220)
- Candidate Signature Sheet (SEL 121)
- Petition Submission Form (SEL 338)
- Certificate of Limited Contributions and Expenditures (PC 7)
Optional application materials may include:
- Candidate Statement (Must be submitted directly to Marion County Elections. Forms and information are available on the Marion County Voter Pamphlet Candidate and Measure Argument Forms page.)
The Marion County elections drop box is currently closed, as there are no active elections.
The 24-hour ballot box is located at the NE corner of Aumsville City Hall (595 Main Street). To access the drop box, enter the parking lot from Main Street, follow the driveway to the right of the City Hall building, and proceed to the back of the building where the ballot box will be found on the left of the driveway, at the rear corner of the building before you exit onto Church Street.
Elections are managed by the County Elections office. City staff CANNOT accept ballots. Ballots must be placed in the official Marion County drop box ONLY.
DO NOT place ballots in the gray utility payment drop box in FRONT of City Hall. City staff are NOT responsible for misplaced ballots.
