Thank you all for your involvement in helping us plan a park that the community can be proud of!
The information gathered during the planning process was used to put together the Eastside Park Master Plan, which was officially added to the City of Aumsville Parks Master Plan in June 2023. The elements included in the plans may vary from what is actually built depending on what funding is available, and how the needs of the community change over time.
About the Planning Process
Eastside Park went through several phases of planning. The Eastside Park Advisory Committee consisted of four citizens who worked closely with our planning consultant, Dave Kinney, and landscape architect, Brian Bainnson. Together, they built concepts and gathered community input to adjust the drawings based on feedback. The Planning Commission and City Council later reviewed the concepts, along with community survey results to move forward with the concept designs.
The chosen concept design does not set plans in stone, but acts as a guide to help staff and officials move forward with developing the property into a community park that Aumsville can be proud of. The process of building a community park can be very lengthy, and will take place in phases based on available grants and other resources, and the current and future area needs.
Next Steps
The park property was brought into the urban growth boundary (UGB) in July 2024, and will expected to be annexed into Aumsville city limits in 2025. Aumsville City staff and officials will seek opportunities to develop the property using grant funding where possible, though the process will take time. Large community parks like this one can take anywhere from 5-10 years or more to develop from start to finish depending on available resources and funding.
