City Council Vacancies
The Mayor, and three City Councilor positions have terms expiring December 31, 2026. If you're considering applying for a future City Council position, read below to find out more about expectations, qualifications, and how to apply. City Councilors are elected for 4-year terms, and the Mayor is elected for a 2-year term.
How to Apply
Elected Positions
The following four positions have terms expiring December 31, 2026 and will be up for election:
- Mayor: 2-year term, (1 position).
- Current term expires December 31, 2026.
- Upcoming term January 1, 2027 - December 31, 2028.
- Position currently held by Angelica Ceja.
- City Councilor: 4-year term (3 positions).
- Current terms expiring December 31, 2026.
- Upcoming term January 1, 2027 - December 31, 2030.
- Currently held by Doug Cox, Gregg Hudson, and Della Seney.

Qualifications for Office
Qualified Councilor and Mayor candidates must:
- Be a registered Oregon voter, AND
- Have resided within Aumsville city limits for a minimum of 12 months immediately preceding the election
City Councilor & Mayor Responsibilities
- Attend City Council meetings (held 2nd and 4th Mondays of each Month at 7pm)
- Ability to become knowledgeable on a wide variety of issues affecting the City.
- Willingness to consider differing opinions in arriving at a position that will be in the best interests of the city as a whole.
- Understanding of how the city operates through its City Charter and how the Council functions. The City Charter is available at: https://www.aumsville.us/city-hall/page/election-information
- In addition to the above responsibilities, the Mayor:
- Acts as chairperson of meetings & presides over deliberations
- Has authority to preserve order and enforce the rules of the Council
- Appoints committee members with the consent of the council
Helpful Background/Experience
- Ability to make a decision and to accept the will of the majority of your fellow councilors.
- Good communication skills.
- Prior committee membership in a private or public organization.
- Ability to accept public criticism.
